Engaged!

I've been a bit behind on my blog posts lately, but I have made a list, and I'm getting some new blogs out soon! I decided to start the process by sharing a little bit of my personal life with everyone. I just recently got ENGAGED on December 18, 2010 to the most wonderful man on the planet, Luke McLeod!

I wanted to go ahead and post the proposal story here on the blog with a couple of pictures that my dad took on the day we got engaged! Also, I just wanted to fairly warn everyone that I wrote a very detailed account of our proposal story (to say the least) so be prepared for a long read! And hey, if you aren't into reading, skip on down to the pictures!

How it all happened:

It was Saturday, December 18th when my life was forever changed. The day started as a very "lazy day". I woke up around noon and slowly began what I like to call a "spa day." I showered, did my nails, put on my make-up and curled my hair. Honestly, it couldn't have been a better way to get ready to get engaged, and I had no idea!

The original plan for the day was to go to Grove, Oklahoma to meet my Mom's old pastor and then go to "Christmas Town" and I wasn't to thrilled about it-to say the least. I had told my parents that the only way I would agree to go was if Luke would be able to come with us. They agreed and I then invited Luke to what would be his proposal. Honestly, I was completely oblivious to the idea that this could be the big day-Luke did a fantastic job of keeping it a complete mystery.

Now back to the actual day, as i was finishing up my spa day I got a phone call from Luke saying that he was going to be running late because he was stuck in a lot of traffic coming from OKC. I told my parents, but at this point I thought there was still hope that Luke would be able to make it on time-boy, was I wrong! I found out that Luke was stuck in "stand-still" traffic due to two semis that were completely turned over (he's very creative as you can see) and had spilled meat all over the road!
At this point, I'm becoming a basket case of emotion and refusing to look at my family or speak to them because I knew that they wouldn't wait for him if he was running late.

As I'm moping around, picking out clothes, my sister, Julia, comes into my room. I immediately tell her that I don't want to talk to anyone and that I'm really upset that Luke won't be able to go with us.  After trying to talk to me some and getting shut-down numerous times Julia suggests that I should ask Mom and Dad if they would mind if I stayed behind and waited for Luke and come out to meet their friends and go to "Christmas Town" late.

After deep contemplation I decided to ask my parents and they agreed to let me stay behind and wait for Luke. ( I was seriously putty in their hands! So easy to fool me!)

I wait for about 45 minutes for Luke to arrive at my house and then spend the next hour and a half talking with Luke and explaining to him how i wouldn't go without him because i love him so much as we are on our way out to see the random people and "Christmas Town." Not only does Luke know everything that is going on, he is letting me navigate the way to the house as if Luke as never heard of it before. (He is an amazing actor and should seriously consider changing his degree, by the way.) He went as far as to make a "wrong turn" when we got out close to the house to further throw me off!
We finally make it out to the house and there is a note on the door that says "Come on in, We are out back!" I keep making comments on how lame it is and how annoyed I am that they are all hanging out in the back.

We get to the back porch and the deck is beautiful-I even commented on it. I yell "HELLO!" a few times thinking that maybe they had gone on down towards the lake.

Then the magic began.

Hundreds of icicle lights came on and the song "Postcards from Far Away" by Coldplay began to play in the background. I was completely shocked and instantly in awe of my surroundings. At this point, my whole world went in to slow motion.

I turned to look at Luke and there were the most beautiful tears in his eyes. At that moment, I FINALLY knew what was happening.

Luke grabbed my hands and looked at me and said some beautiful things to me and then got down on one knee and said, "Megan, will you marry me?"

After what felt like a million years, I got my words to connect with my brain and I said "Yes, of course I will marry you!" He put the most beautiful ring on my finger and jumped up and we hugged and kissed.
As if that wasn't wonderful enough the song " A Whole New World" came on and then the firework show began! Literal fireworks to match the wonderful explosions that were going on inside of me! I have never cried such happy tears as I did at that moment when it began to sink in.

The next thing that happened still blows me away-Luke invited all of our Family and Friends to be there with us after we got engaged! It was more than perfect. We all hugged and laughed and cried, then we began the party! Our parents stayed for a while, and then left us to stay the night at Peter's lakehouse with all of our closest friends!

It was the most magical day of my life and I have never felt happier than I did then and do now. He's everything I want and need. I'm the happiest engaged woman on the planet.

The Proof:
